brunch in Barcelona

is a practice deeply rooted in Anglo-Saxon countries but many have discovered thanks to the series Sex and the City. The brunch, the food varied somewhere between breakfast (breakfast) and lunch (lunch), customer loyalty starts in Barcelona. And whenever the premises are included in your letter weekend an option that, contrary to what one might think, does not have majority public with tourists but begins to win many converts among the locals, especially young people. The new custom costs between 12 and 25 euros, although in some hotels the price soars.

Until recently this typical Anglo-Saxon Sunday buffet was more popular in the hotel sector but the downtown area is filled with restaurants that include brunch in its cuisine. Some claim to be "pioneers" as Milk (Gignàs, 21), one of the few who not only works the weekend but has expanded its offerings from Thursday to Sunday (10 to 16h). Others, such as Picnic (Commerce, 1), are newly created but are eager to excel. Milk, near the Via Laietana, offers nine dishes to choose from and only one has no eggs, indicating the importance of this product within the brunch. Here the three types of eggs Benedict and pancakes are as defendant in a brunch that costs between 12 and 14 euros. And who goes through to take the brunch Milk? According to the local 40% of his customers are locals, another 40% foreigners living in the city and there are only 20% of tourists. They have five years in his letter offering brunch and say it is so successful that two years ago have opened another location: Marmalade (Riera Alta, 4). Same letter and same price for a brunch that in this case only served on Saturdays and Sundays 10 to 16h.

Influenced by his experience in New York or Mexico, Chile's Jaime Riesco offers Picnic in the letter (it's local co-owner and chef) your particular version of brunch with some adaptation to local tastes but is no lack of Benedict, " the signature dish, "or the pancakes but there are burgers or pork sandwiches. All accompanied by salad and potatoes. Riesco see the brunch as "a very entertaining concept" and one of the best ways to "pause and continue to enjoy the day." The restaurant serves buffet on weekends (from 13 to 14:30) and also on Fridays in summer (from 11 to 4:30 p.m.). On Saturdays you create a family atmosphere on Sunday, people gather more "cool and fashionable" and the chef says that only 20% of customers are tourists. The price: 15 to 25 euros.

Buffet and more

One of the last to join the fashion has been the B Lounge, the Barceló Raval hotel restaurant during the month of June (Sundays only from 12 to 16h) offers an exclusive brunch. From 25 euros (the famous Benedict are not included in price) anyone can take the buffet and enjoy the city views from the terrace. The first assessment of the experience is positive and the restaurant is considering the possibility of extending the offer throughout the summer. Also in a hotel, in this case, the Arts, the Cafe Veranda boasts of being pointed at for a decade brunch every Sunday from 13h to 16.30h. Your offer is complete but also the most expensive: 64 euros. Veranda also note that in the Anglo-Saxon buffet lunch is deeply rooted in the Catalan capital and ensure that 70% of its clientele is local people. In addition, a month ago have given a twist and offer Sprunch, a feast that has a previous spa. One option is not suitable for all audiences.
